A jakira, the name of this item, is the first kind of weaving a young person makes when learning to weave. It makes me think of how I teach my son to cook, a family skill I want to pass on. For example, when baking something (kolaches are traditional in my family), I start by having him participate in small tasks, such as helping me stir ingredients in a bowl. Little by little I give him more responsibility, such as letting him form indentations in the dough and spoon in filling.
