Llama

The llama is a highly valued animal in the Andes, providing transportation and food. It symbolizes strength and bravery. Andeans tell of the llama’s role in the defense of the Inca empire against the Spanish invasion. In Ccollana, another community in Cusco, the llama design as used as the minmin or soul for their weavings to ensure that they are strong and impervious to water (Proyecto Corredor Puno-Cusco 2005).
